This state only occurs if the Disable or Abort button is clicked manually. In that case, the repeater stops the reconnection process and returns to its initial state, showing the Connect button.

What causes it to display the error that it failed to reconnect?

This message appears when the AR300M is unable to scan for or connect to the specified Wi-Fi network. Even when this error is shown, the router will continue attempting to reconnect automatically every 30 seconds.

There are a number of areas where the reconnects are failing or attempts are being disabled. I don’t understand why these are functions of your devices.

To help narrow this down, please confirm the following:

1. Your mobile hotspot remains enabled after you return. Some phones automatically disable the hotspot after a period with no connected devices.
2. The hotspot is broadcasting on 2.4 GHz, as the AR300M only supports this band.
   • On Android, this may require manually selecting the band.
   • On iPhone, please enable Maximum Compatibility.
