Are the AX1800 5GHz DFS channels disabled by hardware or software?

Are the AX1800 5GHz DFS channels disabled by hardware or software? I am in Australia and the non-DFS channels are congested, my Unifi UAP AC Pro has DFS channels available.

I saw a thread in 2021 where GL-iNet forum staff said they’d consider opening up DFS channels but I wondered if the hardware allows this.

If I re-flashed with vanilla OpenWRT would I get access to DFS channels?

That sounds like a question for @solidus1983 .

You mean channels above 48 then yes you will get more channels on Openwrt builds.

Reminds me I still need to find time to fix the kernel 6.1 builds.

How do I source a vanilla OpenWrt 22.03 for the AX1800? Do I have to compile myself? Do I use gl-infra-builder?

On the AXT1800 which has the same chip, you can login to Luci and go to menu Network / Wireless, select your wifi and and go to the Advanced tab and change the Country (ex: for 5G try US).

Solidus has OpenWrt with some extra packages prebuilt, all works well, only repeater on DFS channels I couldn’t get to work last time I tested.

Thanks - setting via uci worked as well:

uci set wireless.radio0.channel='52'

I had just assumed they locked out DFS channels.
