Have a good day

Thank you for your article!

That is great, and the 3 points which require to improve I have marked.
And the 3rd please clarify what mean of the 'pas de Geo Blocking'?

Hello,
You're welcome

With the "pas de Geo Blocking", I mean, there is no option in the router to block incoming traffic with a blocklist of IP as I could do with my old synology.
And therefore, there is no real configurable firewall accessible wiht GL.iNet Interface.
And by that, I mean something like this :

Of course, rules are read from top do bottom.
And after, the last 4 allow/deny rules at the bottom are use, and normaly set to deny.

On my old synology, I had those rules (sorry, explanations are in French):

A last thing you should add, is a DDNS service with our own domaine name (mine is on OVH), not only the gl.inet provided when we activate it.

Nice post! I used translation to read it  I have also been facing the issue with no bidirectional 2.5G speeds. I describe the issue here: Flint 2 (MT6000) 2.5Gbe issues it seems to be OK in op24 firmware (but wifi speeds are worse for me)

Third-party DDNS services probably require to install luci-app-ddns plugin.
If the GL GUI supports it, we may encounter some problems that beginner users will not be able to use, since different DDNS provider have different configuration methods.

That is the advanced firewall you mentioned, I assume some advanced users prefer to achieve in the Luci, but I will hand it to PM to evaluate this.

Yes, but it's still need to go to LUCI

Everything in the GL Gui could afraid beginners, and honnestly, I'm not sure they bought a GL.iNet router...
But, if that's so, maybe create an advanced settings tab/page/section/... an put some delicate settings in there.

Excatly, an advanded firewall, with a nice GUI, and easy to understand (like what Synology do for exemple).
LUCI is... a bit compelx, and the firewall section isn't very easy to understand and manipulate...

But anyway, thank you to take into consideration these suggestions:)

Imho: If you are a beginner, stay with your ISPs router.

If you want advanced features, you need to understand that advanced features require advanced knowledge - and testing.

Hello
I think I’m not a beginner.
I used and still use a router différent drop my isp provider for more than 15 years. But I'm used to have an nice GUI (GL gui is very fine by the way) which simplify settings.

I understand how firewalls works, and when the gui is simple but complete, I can manage to configure as I want, and I understand well what I'm doing. (for example with the Synology GUI whether with DSM or with SRM).
But with LUCI, I don't really understand

By writing these lines and making the previous screenshot, I realise that I wasn't at the right place
This screen is more comprehensible

The other screens (Ports Forward, Traffic Rules) are a bit more complex, but I should understand if I spend some time to familiarizing with it.

I hope GL gui will have a firewall section to configure  more easy than the LUCI one
