Hi there,
I hope you are all doing well. I'm having this very strange issue where all my devices work fine with my AX1800 Flint except my PC. Every single day it loses connection to the Internet, the Wifi icon shows it is connected but it doesn't go out to the Internet at all. I've tried many, many, many things but, long story short: I've noticed that getting my PC out of the VPN (just by excluding it form the policy) and add it back immediately solves the issue. I have to do this from any other device as my PC can't even reach the router GUI even though it is connected to it!
All my devices are connected to that only router and it goes directly to the Internet, so a very simple setup. I'm running a Wireguard client and surfshark is my provider. I'm also using adguard home.
I'm pulling my hair with this one but the workaround mentioned above seems to indicate it is the router blocking the traffic for some weird reason and just getting my PC out/in again works fine until the issue comes back the next day or even later the same day...very annoying!
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi
Could you please let us know your firmware version of AX1800?
And if it's not updated, would you be able to upgrade to the latest stable firmware or even the beta version to see whether it fixes the issue or not?
You can download it here and upgrade it follow this guide.
Additional, if your PC had enabled the Random hardware addresses, please try disable it.
Hi will.qiu,
I'm running 4.7.0 which doesn't seem to be available anymore? I was against trying the beta firmware but I can do it if you think it might help.
Random hardware addresses is already disabled on my computer.
When using VPN Policy Based on the Client Device, Flint identifies devices by their MAC address.
If the MAC address of PC changes, it may no longer pass through the VPN tunnel.
In this case, if the Block Non-VPN Traffic enabled, the PC may be unable to connect to the Internet.
Since there are reports that Windows may still change MAC addresses even when “Random hardware addresses” is disabled, we suggest noting down the MAC address of your PC as shown in the Flint - Admin Panel - Client.
When the issue occurs again, please check whether this MAC address has changed.
If the issue persists, yes, we recommend upgrading to the latest 4.8.2 beta version.
This 4.8.x release features a refactoring of the VPN functionality, which may help resolve this matter.
