AXT1800 - Upgrade to 4.8.2 from 4.6.11

I have a Slate AXT1800. I notice there is a new upgrade to 4.8.2. I’m currently running 4.6.11.

Last time I attempted an upgrade I ran into some issues and rolled back to 4.6.11.

Are the same plugins available in both versions? I use the following plugins:

cryptsetup
kmod-crypto-ecb
kmod-crypto-xts
kmod-crypto-seqiv
kmod-crypto-misc
kmod-crypto-user
luci-app-samba4
openssh-sftp-server
rsyslog
hostapd-utils
arp-scan
arp-scan-database
bind-dig
luci-app-vnstat2

I use WPA3 Enterprise, and WPA3 SAE. I also use an encrypted USB and SD card with the Samba file server.

I’m content with the current features in 4.6.11. If there are security issues I would like to fix these and it would be my main motivation for upgrading. Security issues which affect the wireless access points are my main concern. Security issues which require physical access are less of a concern.

Can I please seek some advice?

Hi

Please see our responses below:

All listed plugins are available in firmware 4.8.2, except for luci-app-vnstat2.

Following the kernel update, some SD card models may experience compatibility issues. Whether this affects your setup depends on the specific SD card and driver behavior, so we recommend testing after upgrading, and keeping a backup file for rolling back to version 4.6.11.

Wireless security is primarily handled at the Wi-Fi layer via WPA/WPA2/WPA3. Since you are using WPA3, there should be no direct impact related to this concern.

@will.qiu thank you for your reply.
