I have ubiquiti has my main internet and use comcast. I want to use my travel router on my second wan port of my ubiquiti router as a backup connected to another WiFi network. I think what I need is to put the travel router in dmz mode so all my firewall rules on my ubiquiti work. Please advise, I have the Wi-Fi 7 travel router that just came out.
Why would you waste a router like the slate 7 for such a mediocre task as using it for a WAN failover is the first question that comes to mind?
I accidentally bought two so the other one I want to use at the backup
Is it WAN failover or load-balancing that you want to use the secondary WAN for? and why do you feel that any of the Slate 7 settings would affect your Unifi’s firewall rules? Just setup your Slate 7 in a wireless repeater mode (in exactly same way as you do when you travel) and connect it to your Unifi’s secondary WAN and you should really be good to go with no further changes required.
Failover
Just uses extender mode (and disable own WiFi) in Slate7, and Slate7's LAN connects to ubiquiti's WAN2.
Right now I have DMZ set on LAN IP address that my ubiquity is pulling and that seems to works for now.
