Beryl AX connecting remote telescope pc

I have a remote telescope with a MeLe 4 computer connected to the scope, camera and mount. The rig is just out of range of my home wireless network. I want to mount the Beryl AX on the telescope , connect the LAN from the Beryl to the MeLe 4 and then have the Beryl connect wireless to my home network. I am confused as to what setting I should configure the Beryl…Router , Access Point or Extender ??

Hi,

Since you mentioned that you want the Beryl AX to connect to your home network wirelessly, only the following two options should apply:

  • Router Mode + Repeater
  • Extender Mode

The main differences between them are:

  • Router Mode + Repeater creates a separate subnet from your home network. As a result, unless you configure additional settings such as routing, firewall rules, port forwarding, or DMZ, devices connected to your home network usually won’t be able to access the MeLe 4 or the telescope. However, Router Mode provides the full feature set, including VPN, AdGuard Home, and other advanced functions.

  • In Extender Mode, devices connected to the Beryl AX and devices connected directly to your home network are on the same network and can communicate with each other normally. However, some router-related features will not be available in this mode.
