Beryl AX Disconnecting Every 20 Minutes

Hi!

I recently bought a Beryl AX running on 4.7.0 a couple of weeks ago and started using it as a main router for my new place a few days ago. I am only using it on ethernet mode and it is connected to a cat 5e wall port via WAN. I'm not running a VPN or AdBlock.

Every 15-20 minutes, internet drops for a few seconds and automatically reconnects. I have done some ping tests using ping -t 8.8.8.8 and ran it for an hour and I usually lose 4-10 packets which impacts calls and games greatly. I have attached the ping test here:

I have already tried unplugging the ethernet cables, power cables, and modem cables as well as restarting both the modem and router several times. I have also checked the modem when these disconnects happen, and the internet light is still on but the router light turns off, so I don't think it's an ISP problem.

I have also tried resetting the firmware and reverting to 4.6.9 but the problem persists. The issue affects both the 2.4GHz band and the 5GHz band. It affects all devices on the network including my PC and phone.

I have attached some logs from the past couple of days for reference. Please let me know if there is a fix, thank you!

Hi zooming!
Can you make a test without Beryl to see if the problem persists? Then we know if Beryl is or is not the problem.

Hi buntspext,

Since I'm using it as the main router, I don't have another router to test out the connectivity  is there a way to simply test the modem?

Hi zooming,

I found this in your log:

"mtk_soc_eth 15100000.ethernet eth0: Link is Down":

This message appears repeatedly, indicating that your WAN connection is physically going down.

@bruce can you please check?

Marcus

Yes, I found a lot of logs that indicate that the WAN port is disconnected/down and reconnect/up.

It may be due to poor contact with the Internet port on the wall.

  1. Please change another network cable.

  2. Since there is no other router to test the wall port, then are there other wall ports?
If yes, connect to another port to take a test.
