I purchased a Beryl AX on Lazada in Thailand. Fully expecting it to be the global version as the sellers description included Tor and VPN. The device is useless to me as I bought it for the VPN abilities and convenience.
I have tried updating the firmware but still have the same issue.
Can this device possibly be flashed into a global version? If not I have a few days to return it.
Unfortunately, there is no official way to flash the device into the global version, I am sorry.
@bruce Might add some more details, but I would say the best way is to return the device and order one from the official GL store?

There's no official way to convert, but the user can still flash to actual Openwrt and check on the Openwrt forums.
There is some workarounds. But this is official forum and nobody here will tell you how as this prohibited.

I have been given a few suggestions, or openwrt as you said. Better than nothing. Unfortunately the seller advertised it as having vpn or I wouldn't of bought it. It seems I might be able to return it and will give that a go first. Returns in Asia are not a standard practice, but as the advertising was false and it was sold through Lazada I may have a chance.
