I took a Beryl AX to centerparcs netherlands. The Wi-Fi presented an acceptance page, and you must click “start”.
I manged to get all devices working with Wi-Fi, including a fire stick.
My beryl AX connected to the Wi-Fi but reported no internet. On the first day I managed to get the portal page to show up and the beryl began to work. The next day it again said no internet and from this point never worked again.
I tried multiple fixes such as clone mac address, DNS settings etc. I read another post about cloning IP, gateway, and DNS, but again couldn’t get it working.
Can anyone help with why the beryl ax didn’t work and how to make it work? If not, I’m considering sending it back to Amazon as faulty. My phone worked better than the beryl. I was able to connect to Wi-Fi and hotspot and in the end, I even got the fire stick connected directly.
I read that page whilst away and tried all the steps. Nothing seemed to work. Early on I could select my phone by name when choosing a MAC address to use, but after it stopping working I reset the router. From that point my phone vanished as an option in the MAC address list. Eventually after a few days I gave up as I was going over the same ground and by this point had found other working methods.
I would love to be able to set the beryl up and have everything connected to it, but if it is going to be this much hard work I really don't see the point.
Unless of course I was missing something simple to get it working.
After further reading I have determined the beryl AX is not fit for what I require. It appears trying to connect it to any wifi that has a portal login page will likely fail. Luckily my return window is still open, so sadly it will have to go back.
It's a shame as if it would have worked it would be a brilliant gadget.
Here are some screenshots. I took one the only time I got the portal page to display and get it connected and was the result of several hours of messing around. The following morning the router had disconnected and I never managed to get it connected again. It's on its way back to Amazon now.
EDIT: I can only put one embedded media in a post.
When repeater connected and it displays "The interface is connected, but the intentet can't be accessed", export and get me the log. To get the log, go to admin panel->system->log and export.
When the repeater is connecte, ensure you don't have encrypted dns, adguardhome and vpn enabled, in your browser, go to http://neverssl.com and check if the portal page will pop up.
I don't have the router anymore as I returned it to Amazon. My return window was closing and I didn't want to get stuck with a defective device. I'm also not on holiday anymore so even if I did have it I couldn't test it. It should just work. If my phone and fire stick can connect with no problems there is no excuse for the router playing up, hence in my opinion it was faulty and possibly inherently so.
You did absolutely the right thing as these problems have been so entrenched with these routers and with no one being able to really to get to the buttom of this issue after all these years. Some people will try and give you all sorts of possible excuses and tricky workarounds but I am yet to find any answer to why other routers and devices work absolutely fine under exactly the same circumstances.I have always asked how a device as far from a router as can be like a dumb firestick can connect to a captive portal but a router such as the Beryl AX with all its bells and wistles falters in such a spectacular way.
