Beryl AX router can't use eero wifi network as a repeater

Hello,

just started using my beryl ax router. my use case is as a wifi repeater. i attempted to connect to my home eero network, and it won't connect. The web portal icon is orange and just says

Connection failed, will retry later…
While attempting to reconnect, your router will periodically scan for Wi-Fi networks, and your guest Wi-Fi network will be temporarily unavailable during this scan.

When I switch to a wifi network broadcast by my android hotspot, everything works fine however.

I also found this amazon review which agrees that maybe this is just an eero problem? Amazon.com: Customer reviews: GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 (Slate AX) Pocket-sized Wi-Fi 6 Gigabit Travel Router, Extender/Repeater for Hotel&Public Network, VPN Client&Server, OpenWrt, Adguard Home, USB 3.0, Network Storage, TF card slot

Am I doing something wrong? Are there wifi networks that this device is unable to use as a repeater? The goal of this router was to turn random 3rd party networks into something uniform and trustworthy. I'm concerned i'll continue to find other wifi networks that don't work, so i wanted to get ahead of it and see if there was something i was missing.

thank you!

Can you share all Wi-Fi settings of the eero with us?

Channel, bandwidth, encryption and standard?

Security is WPA3-Personal

It's got "client steering" and "thread" turned on (not sure if those are helpful but sharing anyway).

It's a mesh network (there are a few eeros around my house), but of the router i'm sitting closest to (right next to):

for 2.4ghz
Channel: 4
Control Channel: 6
Channel Bandwidth: 40 MHz

for 5ghz
Channel: 42
Control Channel: 36
Channel Bandwidth: 80 MHz

for 6ghz
Channel: 79
Control Channel: 69
Channel Bandwidth: 160 MHz

  1. Please try to switch to WPA2 in eero
  2. Can try to disable the client steering and thread in eero
  3. Post the Beryl AX syslog during you operating it scan/connect/repeat, if it still not works.
