Beryl Router Connection Issues

So its my first time trying to set up anything close to a router so please excuse my lack of knowledge.

So basically I followed all the set up instructions and used some forum information for help. But when attempting to connect to my wifi connection via repeater, it firstly wouldn’t connect at all and would basically be constantly attempting to find the IP, DNS etc.

I then discovered via the forums that sometimes manually putting in the wifi information, IP, etc would fix the problem. So I did this and then I hit the problem which is something along the lines of “able to connect to wifi but unable to receive internet connection” (not this exactly but like this) I tried as many things as I could find, nothing of which worked. I also tried to just connect to my wifi repeaters wifi in which it would just constantly say “incorrect password” so assumed it wouldn’t work and stopped trying it.

I have now switched it to extender and tried connecting it initially to the actual internet but it said “unable to find IP” but was able to connect to my repeaters wifi so its currently at least boosting my wifi connection.

I have already sent a email to support but thought it would also be helpful to post here.

(I also am unable to directly connect it via ethernet to the router, same goes for the USB modem thing)

It should literally be a case of scanning for your wireless home network and entering the correct password, then you are online.

I would make sure your firmware is on the latest stable release (don't keep settings)

Sounds like some manually changed settings maybe chasing your issues. So a factory reset and try again approach might be worth a try.

When connecting via ethernet you would connect an ethernet cable from the LAN port on your main router to the Beryl AX - you would then connect your wireless device to the SSID of the Beryl AX and have access to http://192.168.8.1

I have just assumed you are using the Beryl AX however it could be the original Beryl so please make sure you use the correct firmware based on which Beryl you own.

Yeah thats what I assumed too but both today and yesterday (today is after support tried assisting me) it just attempts to connect, and then is stuck in a infinite loop of finding IP, Gateway, and DNS. Support made me download a new version that was supposedly supposed to fix it. It didnt and I was forced to try the same steps as previously mentioned, none of which worked. The only difference was this time, it was more finicky and the router would continuously disconnect me, which only was fixed after a couple restarts and resets. Im back at the same extender settings and am hoping support is able to figure out whats wrong.

Im also not able to connect via ethernet since it would be ran through the entire house, and the router already is maxed out on ethernet cords.

I would still do what I suggested in terms of updating the firmware or factory resetting and not keeping settings.

And to ensure there isn't a problem with your device you would want to at least attempt to run an ethernet cable and connect it to the WAN of the Beryl, even if it means unplugging a cable from your router for a short while.

Without trying all of the suggestions then I'm afraid you will be going back and forth to support.

Just connect your beryl to the router at the location of the router, use the supplied ethernet cable that came with the beryl. This is only to rule out problems / test.

I probably should’ve clarified but I did reset the firmware without keeping the settings.

In terms of using the Ethernet cable, are you asking me to use the Ethernet cable to see if its able to connect to the router at all? Or are you saying to see if the Ethernet ports of the Beryl work? But I will do as you suggested and ill let you know either way.

Just to see if it will grab all your current router settings and re-broadcast it's own network with a working internet connection. Going via ethernet means you don't need to grab any wireless settings from your router In order to get online.

You can then connect to the default Beryl WiFi SSID or use the LAN port on the Beryl to connect a device, you should then have a working network along with internet access.
