[Beta Release] Beryl AX (GL-MT3000) v4.8.2 with New WireGuard Obfuscation Support

Any plan to release the obfuscation for MT2500A, too?

Makes more sense of using MT2500 as VPN Server and MT3000 as VPN Client.

MT2500 may be a little later.

We need to verify this feature on more MT3000 first.

I set up Beryl AX wireguard VPN server with obfuscation enabled, however when I try to scan the generated QR code with iphone wireguard app, it gets an error…

Should the phone download be the standard WireGuard APP? If yes, it does not support obfuscation.

You need to download the AmneziaWG APP in phone that support to import the profile with obfuscated parameters.

There is apparently an app for AmneziaWG!

Anyone able to share what is the different between the two app - AmneziaWG and AmneziaVPN?

For Android phones, I used this one and worked with no issue:

AmneziaVPN is an app which serves a few different purposes, mainly to provision with one-click your own self-hosted server with support of a modern protocols - be it AmneziaWG, Vless, or just a plain-simple Wireguard or Openvpn. It also supports working as a client to all these protocols including Wireguard or OpenVpn as well though.

AmneziaWG is just a client to Amnezia Wireguard.

Thanks GL.iNet team!
I tested the 4.8.2 beta4 as amnezia client and here are my results:

I wasn’t able to determine which version of the AWG tools is included. Also, I cannot edit the config file to add properties like I1 as suggested here to test awg 1.5: https://docs.amnezia.org/documentation/instructions/new-amneziawg-selfhosted/.

Could you please make this option available?

The current firmware used is AmneziaWG 1.0.

Do you need AmneziaWG 1.5 (or 2.0 for someone asked)?

Support of AWG v.1.0 is better than no support of AWG at all, but do you really need an answer for a question that sounds like ‘do you want a support of latest and newest [something]‘?

Hi Bruce, I guess worth to start with the latest version, because they usually exist because the previous one had an issue, otherwise they will still be the same version.

From their statement:
”…Version 1.5 takes obfuscation to the next level: traffic can now be disguised as common UDP protocols (such as QUIC, DNS, etc.), making it indistinguishable from regular internet traffic…”

Hi bruce,

AmneziaWG 1.0 is already blocked by DPI in some regions of Russia.

Amnezia maintainers confirmed that 1.5 was released in a rush as a temporary workaround to bypass censorship. Since 2.0 (v0.2.15) is already out and is the proper, stable upstream release, it’s the best option for us going forward.

We would be glad to have AmneziaWG 2.0

folks, AmneziaWG 1.5 was released in such a rush that seems like the official Amnezia client does not properly support it yet. I had a bunch of issues. I would take some grace period before trying to implement support of 1.5.

Received, we will evaluate it, thank you all for the suggestions.

Can we get a beta firmware to test Amnezia on the Opal (SF1200) please?

Sorry, but now it's just small-scale verification, only for MT3000 beta firmware. Test model will not be expanded for the time being.

Few days ago someone made a pull-request in my repository with ‘amnezia for mt3000’, I haven’t check it since I’m good with stock firmware, but if you are interested in, you may try v2.0 for 4.8.3 firmware, sources/binaries are here (you should know what you are doing): GitHub - xa0c-net/amnezia-glinet-mt3000: Amnezia package for official MT3000 firmware

Just a feedback after using as repeater with Amnezia WG, everything looks solid. Testing Period roughly a week.

Looking forward for AmneziaWG 1.5 / 2.0 implementation.

Well done team.
