Bricked gl-mt300n-v2

I bricked it by trying to flash: openwrt-mt300n-v2-4.3.25-0318-1742298825.bin

I tried following this guide Debrick via Uboot - GL.iNet Docs. I can flash any of the previous versions on GL.iNet download center | GL-MT300N-V2 Mango with the same result. The router gets stuck with only the power LED on. The Ethernet network status keeps looping through cable disconnected and identifying network status.
I can successfully flash any openwrt firmware and it start in LuCi. How I can get back to stock CL-iNet?

@aditzan I think you can flash the GL images from vanilla OpenWrt as a sysupgrade. Have you tried this (w/o saving configuration when doing so)?

Hi kjoshj, I have tried and it is successful, I have followed 2 steps kernel first using Uboot, then sysupgrade from UI. router will start in LuCi webUi.
it is the Gl-inet images that is does not accept/finish loading. any GL image including clean one will go through same steps. upload flash, the LED's will flash then will turn off and then only the power LED will stay on. no access to ethernet, Ethernet network will keep looping through cable disconnected and identifying network status.

Maybe the MT300N-v2 have been flashed new uboot by vanilla openwrt, so the uboot is not gl-uboot at this time.

If the GL firmware has been flashed and run successfully, there is no need to perform the following steps:
uboot-gl-mt300n-v2-20180427-md5-9285371a147773e26fc687cd3318d480.zip (53.2 KB)
Unzip this, flash the .bin file for uboot.

  1. Try to re-flash the gl-uboot image (http://192.168.1.1/uboot.html)
Upgrade Uboot version - GL.iNet Router Docs 4
  2. Try to flash the GL firmware (http://192.168.1.1)

@aditzan I'm asking if you tried flashing the GL-Inet images from vanilla OpenWrt LuCI instead of the u-boot? The U-boot guide says it needs .img files and I'm only seeing .bin files for the MT300N V2 downloads.

@bruce might have your answer, I don't see "factory" vanilla OpenWrt images for the GL-MT300N V2. The "sysupgrade" image should leave the GL u-boot in place, but since you were able to follow the GL debricking guide it sounds like you still have the GL u-boot. Do you see a GUI when accessing u-boot? My understanding that the vanilla u-boot is ftp only w/o a web-GUI.

Hi Bruce,

Still in the same status as before.
What I found did after your emailI: access the web UI for uBoot; started the process. The UI displays "Update in PR" banner once I click update.
it does not provide any visual feedback on the router. The same first two LED's stay on, and no change in IP from 192.168.1.1.
It does not look like is doing anything.
I have a ping -t going and it does successfully ping 5 minutes after I started the process.

Hello,

If it is GL uboot, it will appear like this:

I don't think I've seen the uboot interface you attached.

Can this uboot be flashed into the attached GL uboot?
uboot-gl-mt300n-v2-20180427-md5-9285371a147773e26fc687cd3318d480.bin

Hello,

Thank you for following up. Still no progress for now.

I have started with this screen:

After pressing the Update U-Boot button, a new screen is rendered:

no feedback on router (AE: no changes in LED's first 2 are staying on).
after 25+ minutes, there is still traffic over Ethernet, no changes on router

I see.

When I flash the uboot-gl-mt300n-v2-20180427-md5-9285371a147773e26fc687cd3318d480.bin in 192.168.1.1/uboot.html, it did show the "update in pr`. However the mt300nv2 will reboot automatically when it completed flashed, and the first (power) and third(wifi) LEDs will on when it booted up.

What about if flash the GL MT300nv2 firmware in uboot when flashed the GL uboot?

When the GL firmware completed flashed, please switch the PC network card to DHCP auto obtain IP.

flashing firmware (openwrt-mt300n-v2-3.105) in uBoot trigger this error message:

is there other 300n v2 version that has the right size?

@aditzan Are you 100% sure you have a v2?
A v1 would be doing everything you're experiencing trying to use v2 files.

How about if flash the firmware openwrt-mt300n-v2-4.3.25-0318-1742298825.bin in your MT300Nv2?

I hope it is, just for testing, I have tried a v1 bin, and I'm getting the same results.

Regardless of what bin I try to load, it goes in this sequence after I press update:
Second light blinking
The third light is blinking
The second and third lights are blinking
Only the first light on
The third light blinks for a fraction of a second
All lights off
Only the first light comes back on

same behavior regardless of what bin version I'm trying.
using uBoot screen I get the Flash size red error
using Firmware update it goes trough the steps with bilking lights ending in extremely short blink on light 3 (wifi) followed by all of and only light 1 coming back on

I think I need a "complete" bin to rewrite everything.

As far as I understand, to restore the router, you need the same files as in this section.
