Bridge the LAN port 1 and WAN of SFT1200

Hi!

I’ve got a SFT-1200 and I’m trying to get a special setup running.

The SFT is connected to the internet via another router via WAN port.
The SFT also sets up a WiFi network on which all traffic is sent through an WireGuard-VPN

On LAN port 1 I want to use a WiFi-Repeater that works with the internet router as a mesh-network.
Right now, the mesh isn’t working, because the SFT uses a different subnet (192.168.2.x) than the internet router (192.168.1.x).

Connecting the internet router via LAN port 2 solves the mesh problem, but fails the VPN (can’t connect because there is no connection via WAN port).

Is it possible to set the LAN1 to switching mode or is there another solution?

Thx for your help!

Hi,

I don't quite understand your needs.

You can clarify your SFT1200 network connection by drawing a network topology diagram.

Also, how do you want to use LAN port 1, switch it works as WAN?

That is my setup.

One router is connected to the internet and the Opal is connected to this router via WAN port.

A wireless mesh extender is connected to the Opal via LAN port 1.

The extender shall be in the same subnet like the internet connected router.

The Opal router shall do a wireless network and sent all the traffic from this wireless network through a VPN (WireGuard).

Why are you trying to double NAT? Why can't your mesh repeater lock onto the upstream/WAN-connected router? Is it out of range?

Why is that important?

I don't want to discuss why I have this problem, I want to solve it!

If you want to solve it you need to understand the impedance(s) you've created. That edit with an emoticon ain't gonna help you. Good luck, Tik Tok.

Dumb answers don‘t help me either.

Did the drawing help to understand my needs?

Hi,

Luci -> Network -> Switch:

Modify as the below screenshot for the Physical Middle Port, VLAN ID 1 off, VLAN ID 2 untagged

As bridge the Middle LAN port and WAN port, the Mesh extender connects to the Middle LAN port will be directly to WAN (Main router subnet) without through routing and VPN of SFT1200.
