It seems that named clients (given custom name for identification) are saved in relation to the IP instead the MAC.

I named my mobile device but got a new IP from the DHCP. Now it is listed as unknown again. And the old list entry with the name and the old ip is in the offline clients list.

That does not make really sense imho. I normally give not static IPs to normal devices but that seems to be necessary!?

It is saved based on MAC. Please check if your device has randomized MAC address enabled, that may cause the MAC address to change. Newer versions of iOS, some Androids enable it by default.

I did not remember that there is the option “Private WLAN Adress” in iOS which causes the behavior. I disabled it and guess that it works now.
