My Brume 2 was working fine last night. But I had no internet this morning, I found none of my devices were getting IP addresses assigned. I tried setting my IP manually to 192.168.8.2, but was still unable to connect to the Admin panel. I tried rebooting it a few times, even keeping it unplugged for several minutes to ensure it was fully rebooted. Still no luck.
I read the forums, I saw several posts that were not quite the same issue as I am having. But that lead me to the debricking instructions. Debrick via Uboot - GL.iNet Router Docs 4
Following the debricking instructions. I downloaded the firmware from GL.iNet download center versions 4.6.4 and also 4.6.8. I verified the SHA256 matches with my download.
I was able to get to the UBoot firmware update page just fine. However, when I upload either of the firmware versions, it uploads very fast, just a few seconds. Then it says the update was not successful. I know from the instructions that I should not expect it to save the firmware that fast, so I tried it again and watched the lights. It flashes the light indicating it's writing the file for maybe 5 seconds.
I noticed that the firmware update page gives an MD5 checksum, which is obviously different from the SHA256 provided on the download page. But when I calculated the MD5, it was not what the firmware update page displayed.
I tried uploading the firmware on the firmware update page multiple times, but the firmware update page displays a different MD5 checksum every time, even though I'm uploading the same file each time. This indicated to me that something is not working correctly.
Prior to the failure the router Gl-MT2500 was working well. While I do not remember the exact firmware version it was running, I do check for updates every 4-6 weeks. I think the last time I logged into the Admin panel was mid October. I haven't made any config changes in multiple months, just update and logout.
