Brume 2 set up support

Hello,

I am having issues setting up Brume 2. I have watched the video at the following:

I have followed the steps - initialized a wireguard server, using listening port 12345. I then connected to my router, set up port forwarding to the IP address of my Brume 2, using the same listening port. After I save these settings, i go back to my wireguard server in the Brume admin panel and go to profile and my profile doesnt show up. This is the step in the video above at 1:54 into the video. I tried manually adding the profile but then when i try and test my wireguard tunnel on my phone app it doesnt work. I also show no traffic on my VPN dashboard. Please help on what the issue may be.

I have a BGW320-505 set in passthrough mode to a Netgear Nighthawk RS700S

My firmware on my Brume 2 is version 4.6.4

Thanks

Jamie

Hey :wave:t2:

please read How to troubleshoot WireGuard as it might give you a hint of what is wrong. Make sure to test from outside your network and check that your ISP provides you a public IPv4 IP.

Thank you for the reply. I used What is My IP and it appears that i have a public IPv4 IP.

I read through the article and did not see anything glaring. Wondering if anyone else may have had the same issue and what the solution was?

I am bit confused about your setup. You told 2x that you set listening port 12345 - but it should be needed just once → on the device that will act like a server.

In the video i posted, it is entered when you set up the wireguard server (in the Brume 2 admin panel, you need to identify your port, which I put 12345.

It is also required when you port forward to your Brume 2 in the modem admin panel i entered the Brume 2 IP address with the listening port 12345.

Ah, yeah, in that case you are right.

The main issue might be that your IPv4 isn't really public. What ISP do you use? Is it Cable?

AT&T Fiber

Do you know if they might use CGNAT?

Not certain - but google search for if AT&T uses CGNAT in their fiber appears to be YES. So that is likely the problem. Any suggested course?

CGNAT makes it impossible to open ports, so VPN server inside your home won't work.
You can try ways around it like Tailscale for example.
