Brume2 possibly bricked

Hello,

I have my Brume2 setup as a VPN server. Out of nowhere, it stopped working recently and neither a repair or reset worked. It's stuck at a constant blue light after booting.

I followed the instructions to debrick the router using uboot, using latest firmware 4.7.4 on my Macbook Pro in Chrome browser using the uboot interface. I can see the uboot interface, however, after I select the bin file and upload it, when I click update, I get an error. I'm including a picture of the error.

As a side note, I bought the Brume2 less than two years ago so it should be still under warranty.

Could you please help?

After my last post, I found a GL.inet announcement that recommends updating the uboot version first to version 2025-02-24 15:04:07. I tried this using http://192.168.1.1/uboot.html interface, but I get the exact same UPDATE FAILED error that I shared before.

make sure you are REALLY on http://192.168.1.1/uboot.html and not http://192.168.1.1/ do a refresh when youre on http://192.168.1.1/uboot.html

then check md5 hash of your bin file you downloaded if its correct.

How to make a checksum in macOS

it should be 74286e770cfb041b611d80d4adaef189 for that file.

@mkdr I'm sure I'm on that page and the md5 is correct.

I'm sending a video link so that you can review it all: Video

Thats weird. Try maybe again in private tab with no addons.

Thanks for the idea, I tried it however I get the exact same error in an incognito window.

From what I have readed here and there, I suspect this is what it looks like if the brick happen if the emmc is already teared before the upgrade, meaning no other upgrade is possible, it will be in some sort of read only mode from what I have seen in posts, this then also happens on normal firmware right?

it is a different brick than the ones who did managed to upgrade and it failed which results in a cold brick, this is the brick what this firmware and u-boot is supposed to fix, very sad unfortunately.

try to use the other ether port.

Sadly I cannot even connect to the device and get to the uboot page if I use the WAN port instead.

You cannot use the WAN port, as the 2.5G port does not work in uboot.

In case uboot update failed, you have to try another computer. This is generally what I encounter before. Uboot's web does has problems with some Ethernet drivers.
