Hi, I’ve purchased in the last week a Brume2 which is fantastic. I’m running the ControlD Daemon via ssh access so using DOH (https) via the router. I have this connected to a fibre modem so the Brume2 is using ppoe and is in router mode. I have a mesh Orbi RK50 system connecting via the Brume2 lan port running in AP mode. Everything is great accept…..I cannot connect to the Windows built in VPN to connect to my work network. I’m using PPTP. This always worked fine when I was just using the Orbi connected to a fibre modem. But now the Brume is the router the vpn will not connect. I’ve opened the windows VPN port on the Brume (1723) but still won’t connect.
Clearly the Brume2 is preventing windows vpn access. I’m hoping it’s something easy I’ve missed but just can’t work out what it is.
Hi appreciate the response. Tonight I’ll ssh into the router and stop the config from running and then try the VPN. However I’m not convinced it’s the controld dns doing this, as yesterday I changed the dns on the laptop to Cloudfare to bypass the secure dns coming from controld on the router. However when I did this, the vpn would still not connect. I’ll update the thread here when I’ve done this further investigation tonight.
Thanks Bruce for the advice a few days ago. So I totally removed controld that was installed via ssh, rebooted and the vpn still would not connect, so I was pretty sure the issue was related to the Brume2 itself. This evening I installed the new 4.7 beta 2. I’m pleased to say this new update has fixed my issues. The vpn now works connected to PPTP VPN with controldd encryption enabled. So there was definitely something not quite right with the 4.6.4 firmware.
