Cannot access my domain from inside the domain network

I was with Telstra ISP using the provided Telstra Smart Modem and moved to Neptune ISP and purchased the Flint3 and found that when i try to access my domain, being “jdmils.com” from a Windows 10 computer within the home network, I could not access any sites, such as “http://jdmils.com”, “http://www.jdmils.com”, “https://jdmils.com” and “https://www.jdmils.com” however from the internet, the site is available on all protocols and domain formats. My web site is running on my Synology NAS which checks the domain name via the headers to decipher that all traffic to the domain “jdmils.com” goes to the Synology Web Station.

I’m on a static IP and my router is connected to Fibre To The House.

Looks like the router is blocking the traffic going out then back in again. I edited the HOSTS file and set the local NAS IP to the DNS name “jdmils.com” and it worked OK.

I then added the NAS local IP and mapped it to “jdmils.com” & “www.jdmils.com” in the router’s Hosts file (Network | DNS | Hosts) and it now works. So is this the official fix? Do I have to edit the router’s HOSTS file for every subdomain and point them to the local IP of my NAS?

Technical details:

Router: GL-BE9300
OpenWrt Version: OpenWrt 23.05-SNAPSHOT
Kernel Version: 5.4.213
NAS: Synology 1817+
