Cannot administer GL.iNet router

Hello! - I purchased an Opal router to use as a repeater with a VPN installed. But I am having a problem.

  • If I connect to the primary router using the WAN port, and then log into the Opal's Wifi, I cannot get to the 192.168.8.1 admin panel. I have tried resetting the router, factory resetting, and so on. I just can't get into the panel. Even though the Wifi (both GL-SFT1200-315 and GL-SFT1200-315-5G) works fine. The reason appears to be that my computer (connected to one of those Wifi connections) is using the primary router's IPv4 address.

  • If I remove the network cable to connect purely over Wifi, I can get into the 192.168.8.1 admin panel. However, I can only connect to Wifi with a "Connected, No Internet" status. And the admin panel notes that and limits what I can do. I cannot finish setting up the VPN for example, because the admin panel notes that I am not connected to the internet.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Access the GL GUI via the LAN (cable) or WiFi. Please check this guide:

The WAN cannot access the GL GUI, due to the WAN is facing the public Internet, so it cannot access router admin GUI from the WAN for the security.

Thank you. This is helpful. I watched the video and made some progress. I now have the WAN cable connected to my primary modem, and I get the blue dot next to the ethernet connection on the admin panel showing that I am connected to ethernet.

However, I cannot connect to the ProtonVPN. I have the configuration file there, and it keeps trying to connect, without success. Here are the logs:

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

May try to follow to import the WireGuard Client?
Probably the ISP may block the OpenVPN traffic if premise you configure process is right.
