Cannot connect AX1800 via http://192.168.8.1

Hello,
I’m new to the VPN subject with somewhat limited IT experience.
I just received my brandnew AX1800 Flint and connected it via LAN to my Speedport modem. I followed the instructions “First Time Setup” and were able to connect my PC via WLAN to GL-AX1800-2c8. Internet access is working as it should.
However, I’m not able to connect to the AX1800 via http://192.168.8.1 - " Die Website ist nicht erreichbar, Die Antwort von 192.168.8.1 hat zu lange gedauert."

I switched to Admin account on my PC and disabled Norton. No change.
I tried Firefox, Chrome and Edge. No chage.

The label shows the WiFi-Key, so it should be a new version.

Does anyone has an idea what I could do next?

Any support is really appreciated.

You won’t be able to access the AX by LAN when you don’t plug in your device into the AX first. That‘s by default.

Connect to AX by LAN or Wi-Fi instead of your Speedport.

192.168.2.1 does glinet page or modem page?
Or make auto dhcp your PC.

as Admon wrote, disconnecting the LAN cable, power-on reset and the connection got established. Now I could enter username an pw.
Now I’m trying to get OVPN setup, I’m working through the tutorials right now - we’ll see if I need mor assistance.

My advice: Go with Wireguard instead, it’s way faster.
