Cannot connect to Huawei LAN Switch wifi network

Hi, I'm staying in an apartment with the following enterprise wifi (it's a shared wifi across the entire complex). I don't control the wifi so I can't change its setting.

  • WPA3-Personal authentication only (not WPA2)
  • Wi-fi 6, 802.11ax
  • Huawei router (the default gateway website says "LAN Switch")
  • No captive portal

I am using Beryl AX. I cannot connect to this wifi, Beryl AX will say one of a few different errors:

  • Could not find the network, please check the SSID and security type you entered
  • Connection failed, will retry later
  • Incorrect password (but the password is correct)

I have the same issue on both v4.7.0 and 4.7.4. My phone and laptop are able to connect to the wifi seamlessly. I've tried MAC cloning phone and laptop but same issue still occurs.

Any help? Thanks.

Hi,

  1. Please try to install the op24 firmware GL.iNet download center

  2. When connecting to this primary WiFi on the PC or phone, just click SSID to enter the password or enter the username + password?

I’m not OP, but I’m in a similar boat. In repeater mode, my Beryl AX won’t connect to the upstream network is WPA3-Personal only. Same symptoms OP is describing.

I just tried the op24 firmware you linked— 4.6.6-op24– and everything is working fine now. The Beryl AX now connects via repeater mode on my WPA3-Personal network. Again, I’m not OP, so I apologize for somewhat hijacking their thread

I’m coming from stable release 4.7.4 (which wasn’t working). So my question that I think is still applicable to OP’s post: when would any of these op24 patches be included in releases-stable? Or maybe I’m fully misunderstanding. I’d prefer not to have to go off mainline forever if I can help it

Thanks very much

Hello,

Could you please downgrade the firmware to 4.7.4 or 4.8.0, and share the Beryl AX with us through GoodCloud?

Please wired connect the Beryl AX to a primary router, and also it can scan the WPA3 WiFi in repeater, R&D will remote to your Beryl AX to check the repeater WPA3 issue.

Please PM me the router MAC address and the password login admin panel.

Is there anything else I can do to help troubleshoot without giving remote access to my home network? Is this something specifically unique? I’m using Google Wi-Fi pucks with the “WPA3 mode” activated. I can also try hooking it up to my TPLink Omada test access point with only WPA3 enabled and see if that also has problems

Hello,

Sure, please try to connect (repeater) the Google Wi-Fi pucks and TP-Link Mmada with WPA3.

Since we did not reproduce this issue on the Beryl AX, so probably the R&D require to remote to your router to check this issue based on your WPA3 WiFi.
