Cannot route to cellular from LAN, but can from WiFi

Hello all, I am have challenges with the following setup and hoping for some guidance/feedback:

  1. Using Spitz AX / GL-X3000. Brand new, initial setup
  2. Provider: ATT (via US M "dark star").
  3. Firmware: (Latest I found available), Version: 4.0 Firmware Type: 0704release5, Update Time 2025-03-17 09:47:44 (UTC+00:00). Note: firmware that came on the device (December 2023) did not successfully connect to cellular. Initially downgraded to the September 2023 and made successful cellular connection. Then upgraded to "latest" version stated above and cellular worked.
  4. OpenWrt Version: OpenWrt 21.02-SNAPSHOT r15812+911-46b6ee7ffc
  5. Kernel Version: 5.4.211
  6. Router mode, default network subnet
  7. Using pfSense as the only device via ethernet to the LAN port -- don't want or need to use WiFi
  • I have been able to successfully connect the cellular and connect to device console locally etc,
  • However, I can't route/ping etc via the wired connection -> cellular
    - If I enable Spitz AX WiFi and, for example, connect a cell phone via that WiFi, bingo ... routing/browsing works fine, no issues at all

Any thoughts on this? Any more details needed?

Thank you in advance for your help

Hello, I did a local test.
Test environment: default settings, V4.7.4, router uses only cellular data, kernel version 5.4.211

  1. The computer is the only device connected to the router LAN port via Ethernet cable, PC: 192.168.8.199, router: 10.51.161.198.
The router address can be pinged from the computer.
  2. The computer is the only device connected to the router via WiFi, PC: 192.168.8.221, router: 10.51.161.198.
The router address can also be accessed.
    We didn't reproduce your problem.

When connected via Ethernet cable, is DHCP enabled on your router/terminal device, and has an IP address been obtained?
