I cannot solve the following problem and would like some help.
Initial situation:
The attached picture shows my network configuration. The GL-iNET router is connected to the access router via an Ethernet cable (WAN).
The GL-iNET router is connected to an external VPS server via WireGuard. A media player (AppleTV) is connected directly to the GL-iNET router via an Ethernet cable. The VPS server is the exit point for this. I have configured the hardware switch to “WireGuard VPN off and on”.
Everything works perfectly so far.
Problem
-
when the GL-iNET router is connected to the WireGuard VPS server, apps on the AppleTV cannot access my home network. This only works if I disconnect the VPN connection.
-
files (videos, pictures, etc.) from e.g. iPhones that are connected to the access router via WLAN cannot be played on the AppleTV via Airplay. Airplay only works if I physically remove the GL-iNET router from the network.
I would like to achieve the following
-
I want apps on the AppleTV to be able to access the home network, even if the GL-iNET router is connected to the VPS server through WireGuard.
-
I want to use AirPlay without having to remove the GL-iNET router.
I am grateful for any support.
