I just installed a Flint2. Speeds are outstanding compared to ASUS WIFI-7 and Aircove routers I've tried.
I have not found a way to divide clients into simultaneous
"Using the VPN"
"Not using the VPN to access the internet.
Am I correct reading that this feature is coming Real Soon Now?
The ability to have all my clients running through the Flint2..some VPN protected and some unprotected, is a "make or break" feature for me.
The Aircove software does an outstanding job of allowing clients to be mixed and matched, but the dismal WIFI 6 speeds, and general instability of the router make it unworkable.
Vilfo has an OS that can be installed on some devices, but it is not longer supported.
Here's hoping the new feature will be easy to use for non-technical users.
I may be a bit dense here, but I seem to be able to setup items that use the VPN, or items that do not use the VPN, but I do not see any way to see which items are set to USE or NOT USE.
=Even when I click Apply and then leave the dialog and come back, I see a list of devices I have selected, but non indications which device is to USE or NOT USE the vpn.
Do I have to keep a handwritten list of which devices I set to use or not use VPN?
If the VPN connection is dropped, does that act as a kill switch for the devices that are using the VPN?
Sorry, but the GUI is a little counter-intuitive.
Thanks.
I can that list.
What I am saying is that I can select (for example) 7 MAC address that I want to use the VPN and click Apply.
Then, I reopen that dialog and see the same list of all the MAC addresses. I just assigned to USE VPN.
Must I then click the TRASH CAN beside each MAC address, and then select DO NOT USE VPN and then add the list of the clients that will bypass the VPN?
If this is correct, will the KILLSWITCH still function so that when the VPN connection is dropped all VPN clients will lost their internet connection until the VPN connection is restored?
No, use VPN and Do not Use VPN is mutual exclusive.
You choose the main mode and then the corresponding MAC addresses. Switching the mode will clear the selection.
If this is correct, will the KILLSWITCH still function so that when the VPN connection is dropped all VPN clients will lost their internet connection until the VPN connection is restored?
The embedded killswitch inside the VPN connection will act like that (nothing you can configure, it's always enabled), yes. But the global VPN killswitch will even kill connection for devices that shouldn't use VPN.
