Comet PoE Firmware update 1.7.0 release1 vs 1.5.1 release2

Hi,

So I just bought two Comet PoE (both RM1PE). One came with firmware 1.5.1 release2. Other one - automatically updated to firmware 1.7.0 release1 (I did not note the firmware version before I agreed to update it).

Now both say that they are at latest firmware.

Anyone else have 1.7.0 auto updated on PoE ? From what I see in downloads - 1.7.0 is the latest version for non-PoE and 1.5.1 is latest for PoE.

Strange… also both seem to work ok (except 1.5.1 one - does not have option to set hostname :-[ ).

I think that they must have pulled the latest version “glkvm-RM1PE-1.7.0-1107-1762505958” from the download page as it was pants and quite buggy. It would not allow me to access GLKVM cloud services at all when using VPN on my home router but what really killed it for me was a couple of completely random network disconnects at a time when I was unable to have immediate access to the device to power-cycle and which resulted in me losing access to my PC for a good while.

You're saying that there was glkvm-RM1PE-1.7.0-1107-1762505958.?

I connected my first maybe day or two before second one (today)

First one updated to 1.7.0 and other one today stayed on 1.5.1. And last version on gl. Inet page for PoE vers now is 1.5.1.

Maybe that's what happened, that 1.7.0 was pulled between my my first going online and the second.

Now if that's the case. Should I downgrade first one to 1.5.1?

Those disconnects you had - they ware permanent? I mean you had to power cycle the comet so it could reconnect?

I would if you do not want or cannot afford the risk of unexpected disconnects.

Some users reported encountering strange issues with version 1.7.0, such as devices losing their IP addresses, being unable to access the network, and blinking white lights. As a result, we have withdrawn this firmware version. However, we have been unable to reproduce this issue in our environment. You may continue to try using version 1.7.0. If you do reproduce the problem, theoretically, it will not resolve itself until you unplug and reconnect the Ethernet cable. Any situation where the issue resolves automatically is not a reproduction of this specific problem.

That has been the case with mine and I therefore feel that it is absolutely vital to make the users aware of this issue and advise them to downgrade if they don't want to risk an unexpected disconnect.

can you try this firmware ?

This and next week I have for testing, after that I will deploy both in production. So yes I can try different options until deployment.

I have updated to 1.7.0 release2. (image that you gave me).

Do you want me to test something.

Honestly with version 1.7.0 release1 I did not have any disconnects until now

No. Not being able to reproduce the issue is the most common scenario. Just like how our testing environment has never been able to replicate the disconnection problem.
