I just bought a comet pro and over wi-fi the bitrate barely goes above 1Mbps for 1080p60 at the highest quality setting, which makes the video too compressed and blurry with many artifacts. In this current state wi-fi is barely usable for me.
I don’t understand why there is such a limitation, for years wi-fi has been capable of high speeds especially on the 5GHz band, starting from wi-fi 6 we can even get over 1Gbps connections. At the very least we should be able to get the same bitrate as with the ethernet connection, which isn’t even that high to begin with.
I am already using the normal mode, with the “Ultra high “ quality setting.
You can see below the difference between wi-fi and ethernet, I get a factor 10 in this example in the exact same setting, just switching the connection type:
And my network isn’t the problem, I get around 400Mbps over my wi-fi 5 connection and I tested on a faster wi-fi 6 connection and the result is the same.
I updated to 1.8.0 Release 4 and it seems to be a bit better with the lossless option but I think there is still a bug somewhere because over time the bitrate will drop significantly. For exemple I start getting 1500 kbps for 1080p@60Hz then after some time it drops to as low as 50kbps and everything becomes blurry, with compression artifacts. Switching back and forth between quality settings may make it work again, but again over time quality always drops. This also happens also high and very high profiles.
