Configuration and Settings Backup

Is there an easy way to be able to take a snapshot and backup the firmware with all the user configurations and settings to be able to restore later on in the event of me messing up my router’s settings. THanks in advance for any thoughts.

On the Advanced Admin Flash Operations page, I created a tar archive of the current configuration files for my GL.iNet GL-AR750S-Ext Gigabit Travel AC Router using firmware version 3.104. I saved the resulting backup-GL-AR750S-2020-07-02.tar file to my Mac OS Download folder.

Then, on the same Advanced Admin Flash Operations page, I click on ‘choose file’ and select the backup-GL-AR750S-2020-07-02.tar in my Mac OS Download folder.

When I then click on the ‘Upload archive…’ button to restore the configuration files, I am greeted with the message:

“The backup archive does not appear to be a valid gzip file.”

I’m not sure what I need to do to restore the configuration files in my router.

Any thoughts as to what I may be doing incorrectly?

Thanks!

Try zipping the backup file you created, then use the .zip as input to the Restore process
