Hope I’m posting in the right category. Here’s my problem. We are full-time RVers living in a campground and, as such, cannot obtain our own internet service. The campground has very fast, Fibre-optic WiFi with several transmit antennas placed throughout the property. One is only about 50’ from our location, but the metal cladding of our trailer interferes with the signal and we keep getting booted off. I have purchased a Yagi antenna to mount outside, hopefully bringing in a stronger WiFi signal via the cable. I want to use my ASUS RT-N12 router to then create my own network so all of our devices can connect securely. I’ve done some online research but I’m still not sure if I need a network adapter (i.e. Alfa AWUSO36NH) between the antenna and the router, or if I can connect the antenna straight to the RT-N12? That’s my first question. 2nd question would be how to configure the RT-N12 (in either scenario) - I’m assuming I need “repeater” mode, but I’m not sure. I also read somewhere about changing the IP address so there are no conflicts with [I’m not sure what because I didn’t really understand]. Any advice to straighten me out would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Not sure how folks here can help, as this forum is focused specifically on the GL-iNet products…
Perhaps a good resource for community support is the Asus subforum over on SmallNetBuilder - they’ve got a great community, and knowledgeable on the Asus line of wireless devices…
Oh, wow! Shoot, I’m sorry. This forum just came up in Google search so I posted. Thanks so much for the advice and I’ll go check out the ASUS forum. Just as an aside, for anyone who might end up here in a similar Google search, I’ve kinda come to the conclusion that I absolutely need a network adapter, and probably a USB router as well (rather than my old ASUS router) to accomplish my objective. But I appreciate the attention. Best Regards to all.
That’s ok - and there are GL-iNet products that might be useful…
All the best!
