Connecting to router in WDS mode

Hi All,

I'm attempting to use my Opal router in wireless -> wired bridge mode.

I turned on WDS mode and it's performing as expected, but I can't connect to the router interface. I believe I need to adjust my IP and subnet mask before I can directly connect to 192.168.0.1, but I can't find exact instructions.

Does anyone have this information?

You just need to make sure your gateway (router) is set to your router IP: 192.168.0.1

And statically assign your device to be in the same range. So make your device 192.168.0.100 for example

Set DNS to: 192.168.0.1

Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

You can do this via advanced WiFi settings on your phone or on a Windows desktop you would right click the ethernet / WiFi adapter and edit the advanced settings. < YouTube

On android I know you might get a "no internet" warning and you need to acknowledge and stay connected otherwise it will try and put you back on LTE which will then mean you can't hit your local Router.

So if that's the case, ensure you turn mobile data off, forgot your other WiFi networks (so you dont jump off the network without knowing).

Then when you are connected you would hit the IP of the router in your browser.

Thanks.

Unfortunately these settings don't work. I'm on ChromeOS and I've confirmed:

  • Manual Ethernet IP
  • IP 192.168.0.100
  • Subnet 255.255.255.0
  • Gateway 192.168.0.1
  • Name Server 192.168.0.1

WiFi confirmed off.

I can connect to internet, I can't connect to http://192.168.0.1/ due to timeout.

The default IP is usually 192.168.8.1 so maybe you can try to adjust to that IP range.

Thanks. That worked. My other router is 192.168.0.1, so I was getting mixed up.

No problem. I thought that might have been the case as unless you changed the default IP it is always 192.168.8.1

Glad you have sorted it.
