Dead GL-MT3000.. Runs very hot and no fan or ights

Hi.
About a year ago I brought this router for a project, and have only just gotten around to implemented it.
So I decided to do a Factory Reset of the units in preparation to updating the latest firmware.

It reset, but then there were no lights, fan, and the case became so hot that I knew the chips were being cooked.

I have tries everything but to no avail. Not sure what to do as I had only powered the unit up once after purchasing it - and now when I need it it is dead.

I have no idea’s re warrentys, and I brought it from an EBay seller who is not responsing.

Yes.. Even UBoot..

Hi,

In general, performing a factory reset should not cause the router to become damaged or generate abnormal heat. To better understand what happened, could you please help us confirm the following details?

  1. Could you please confirm whether the MT3000 was able to boot and work normally before performing the factory reset?
  2. Could you also let us know how the factory reset was performed, for example, through the Web Admin Panel or by pressing the physical Reset button?
  3. Please try powering the MT3000 with the original power adapter, or another confirmed working 5V/3A power adapter and USB-C cable, then check whether the LED remains off and whether the Wi-Fi network is still unavailable.
  4. Could you please refer to the following guide and try the procedure again:

If U-Boot recovery still cannot be completed, please let us know what happens during the process, such as whether any LED flashes, whether the Ethernet connection is detected, and whether the U-Boot page (192.168.1.1) can be accessed.

I believe that it was working normally - however I never connected to it. However the blue light was on.

I performed the factory reset using the physical Reset button.

I have tried several power options.. the difference being the ones that can supply more current just makes the unit hotter faster.

There are no Led flashes, not indication of ethernet activity, and definately no U-Boot page,

It is sadly essentially Bricked Silicon
