Device IP addresses with and without VPN

Sorry in advance but I am a real newcomer to VPN's. I want to join two geographically distant LANs together but I'm not sure if this is the correct direction to go. I have two GLinet routers in hand but not yet installed. GL-MT6000 for LAN1 and a GL-AXT1800 for LAN2.

I am planning to install OpenVPN server on my LAN1 which has IPs of 192.168.1.1 thru 50
I will also install OpenVPN client on my LAN2 which has IPs of 192.168.8.1 thru 10.
Once connected, if I run an IP scan on LAN1, what will I see? Will I find IPs of 192.168.1.1 thru 60 on my LAN1, the 51-60 being new IPs for my LAN2 devices?
If I run an IP scan from LAN2, what will I see:? The same IPs of 192.168.1.1-60?

Thanks for any help.

You will find the devices of the network you scan.
Networks won't melt together - but if you scan 8.1 you will find the devices there

Thanks. That makes sense.
So from LAN1, I formerly connected to a device on LAN2 using its external IP and port forward. Now I should be able to simply use the LAN2 IP address directly?

And DHCP should continue to be done independently by each router?

Exactly.

It's just like a new route between those networks.

But you need to check which kind of setup you used. I would recommend: Site to Site - GL.iNet Router Docs 4
