Displayport

My graphics card has three DisplayPort (DP) ports, and one HDMI.

With my monitors connected to the graphics card using DisplayPort, the HDMI port simply does not activate at all until the OS boots. I've got the Comet connected via HDMI, and can't see anything pre-boot (BIOS, boot menus etc).

Works fine if I disconnect my DP monitors ... but that's not an ideal solution!

So, will the comet work fine if I connect it using a Displayport to HDMI cable?

Many thanks.

When you plug-in DP monitors, the other DP port works right? If OK, you can use a Displayport to HDMI cable. If not maybe that won't works.

Does computer allow which output is preferred in bios/UEFI?

It sounds like the computer's UEFI video driver doesn't support multi-monitors, which generally is the case. Also that UEFI video driver initialize DP resources earlier than HDMI's.

IMO it's a limitation of UEFI design itself, and it might be easier to just have a way to keep your DP monitor unpowered until POST is done.

I'll have to look at a couple of options. One might be to see if a DP to HDMI cable will work. Another might be to - as you say- keep the other monitors powered off until Post is done. Potentially with some smart plugs. Many thanks!

I also experience this behavior with my other KVM (jetkvm) device when connected to my GPU.

My main monitor (displayport) is the default output until the host OS is booted.

I figured it was due to multi-monitor not being supported by UEFI. Especially when mixing DP and HDMI outputs.

FYI I purchased an active DisplayPort to HDMI cable - works great.

Many thanks!
