DNS Server …….. Getting

I have a Beryl 3000. Works fantastic traveling and at home. I have a wireless model train with a built in router. The Beryl sees it. The password works. Everything connects but the but the DNS server. All I see is

DNS Server ………. Getting

What does this mean and there is a fix?

Thanks

This means there is no DNS server ready, which makes totally sense if your device (the wireless model train) is for internal use only.

You can ignore it as long as you can connect successfully. Browsing the internet won't work, but the train won't provide internet anyway, so it's OK and expected.

I see your point. I get the message ….. Interface is connected but the Internet cannot be accessed. I connect the train controller to the 3000 but it will not interface. Any ideas?

This is fine as well.

So if I cannot get it interfaced, I could use an Ethernet cable to hardwire to the train router to the 3000 and that should work. Do you agree?

What is the goal?

You need to connect your GL router somehow to the internet - it won't work otherwise.

If you just want to connect to your model train … you can ignore all the messages.

All I want to do is operate the train. Even though everything connects fine to the router the Train App won’t populate probably because there is no internet. It works fine when App is working directly with the train system but not when going through the router. Will try to connect the train controller and the router directly via an internet cable and see how that works.

In that case you might not be able to use the router because the app looks "hardwired" for the IP of the controller and does not expect any NAT/routing thingy.

Great point - I’ve heard that guys have used Ethernet cables and connected the train brains directly to their home router. Will get in touch with the manufacturer and try that. Thanks again for your help.
