It appears that a GL-AX1800 uses OpenWRT to run.
Do I need to know how OpenWRT works to manage the router?
The default firmware of the GL-AX1800 will contain a web-gui, which will simplify a lot of things to set it up. So it will be as easy to use as most routers.
At the same time it offers a lot of far more complicated options, which other routers may not offer. Those feature can be hard to work with, but it really depends on what you are going to do with the router.
