Drop VPN

I have 2 routers
ar300m/nand
ar150

and Both Drop the VPN connection at least 2 and often 3 or more times a day (PIA)
it has become a big drag trying to keep up with all the disconnects.
I have to jump from network to network just to reconnect these VPNs and it has been going on for a while now. People are starting to not trust them and would rather use an unsecured connection.

is there any way to get these VPNs to reconnect on there own?
is there some package that can be installed?
is there any other firmware that would do this if GL-iNet can’t?
all firmware is current

Thank You for your Kick’n Product.

I have nordvpn running using openvpn clients on B1300, MT300N-V2 and AR300M. Yes I do get momentary disconnection almost daily on all those devices as indicated by all those failed 30KB~50KB speed download sessions, but they all auto reconnect back to the same servers and I have to restart the downloads.

I gave up after a month of trying without success on getting a single episode (1GB) of drama at 10KB/s from a certain file host, and I will never attempt to download anything from google drive through a VPN tunnel because its so blazingly fast that the data rate just flood the tunnel and drown out all the sessions through it, and that may be partially the cause of your disconnections.

@motley I wish that was my issue. The VPN’s can just be sitting there idol. (Over Night) and when I get up I Must always reconnect to them, Never fails to make my morning. Then they cut out during the day. Yesterday the VPN would cut out within minutes of reconnecting.

I’m not sure how to get the error log from the router.
if someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

I recently changed ISPs from DSL to Cable and thought maybe that the cable company isp was messing with me but I can not tell if it is them, PIA or the router.

I’ve contacted PIA and have a Msg in with the ISP but I fear this will get me nowhere good.

you can get the log in advanced setting (luci) → system log

Find lines with OpenVPN and there maybe some reason of VPN disconnected.

Dr. Rave, had the same issue as you across multiple models. I too have PIA, only thing that fixed it was manually flashing firmware version 2.261

@kimballslice1890 Thanks I will keep that in mind
@alzhao can you decode the logs and maybe give me an idea at what is going on here?

Well I downgraded down to v2.26 and the happiness still plagues me but it seems to be giving me a little bit different output logs

It saids Auth failure, which means your username/password is not correct

So it seems that when I down graded things got corrupted seems that after I re-loaded my VPNs with the PW again and stuck with v2.26 things seem to be going better I will know more later.
I will slowly upgrade my firmware (day by day) until thinks things start getting sketchy again.
My thinking is the Beta.

The only problem I have with that thought is I have to reset my ar150 v2.64 daily… Maybe, just maybe v2.27 was sketching out my whole network…?

I will soon find out.
