Dumb AP with vlans

Hi there,

So I was having a idea, but I’m not so sure if it will works.

So I was thinking of creating one dumb ap over wifi and then using multiple isolated vlans over it so I can group exactly the devices I want to group but isolate other devices at the same time from exploring my other devices (that seems better than having multiple APs of course).

Then I was thinking how would one client obtain a vlan so I decided to look into the dnsmasq documentation.

From what I have found it should be possible although I’m not certainly sure if it works on static clients (I guess it works on different dhcp ranges) and second im unsure if wireless interfaces even support vlan in the first place.

But would such setup be possible through openwrt?, Does somebody have a example ?

That should be really cool!, Thanks.
