EAP / eduroam on Puli AX (GL-XE3000) / Spitz AX (GL-X3000): any workaround? Is support planned?

Hi,

I would like to ask whether EAP (eduroam / WPA2-Enterprise repeater/client mode) support is planned for the Puli AX (GL-XE3000) and/or Spitz AX (GL-X3000), and whether anyone has actually managed to get it working.

I have tried to install wpad-openssl but it did not help, manual config via CLI did not help either.

GL docs list Puli AX / Spitz AX as unsupported models for EAP, so I’d like to know:

  • Is this only unsupported in the GL EAP UI, or truly unsupported at driver/firmware level?

  • Is support planned?

  • Has anyone gotten eduroam / WPA2-Enterprise client mode working on these models?

Thanks!

Hi

Due to driver limitations, the X3000/XE3000 currently cannot support EAP, and there are no plans to add support.

You might consider using Vanilla OpenWrt to connect to an EAP network instead.

XE3000:

X3000:

Alright, thank you! If I install the vanilla openwrt it won’t break the quictel modem, right?

The Quectel cellular module will not be affected, but the vanilla openwrt will not include GL.iNet's UI and software.

Note: Install the module's dependencies according to the following tutorial:
