I’d like to expand coverage with some additional openwrt dumb APs but I’m not sure how to get these settings installed safely on the GL-X3000. Has anyone done this? Are there any Beta FWs that might have it? If not can we get it as a feature request?

802.11r are not very useful in such scenarios.
You should check 802.11k and 802.11v
I’m looking into these options also but my question is more about how will this play nice with the GL software as all the AP related packages are nonstandard and I don’t currently even see most of the expected fields in the luci wireless advanced pane. If I make CLI changes to wireless config the GLI scripts on other gli products often would overwrite that on restart or whatever.
