Will it be possible to load an esim on the sim card that is being sold when using the GL-M2?
GL M.2 5G develop board isn't esim ready yet, I'll inform the PM and ask if there are any future plans.
Great, thank you
Update:
Just confirmed with PM team, M.2 develop board would not consider the esim feature. Sorry.
What a shame, thank you for asking
Hi Milioo, @milioo we’re about to launch a 4G LTE USB dongle with WiFi. After this product is released, we plan to develop an upgraded version — potentially based on one of the following: a Cat12 solution, a Cat16 solution, a 5G RedCap module, or a finalized version of the GL-M2 (moving beyond its current development board form).
Both the initial 4G dongle and the future upgraded product will likely support eSIM. However, due to power consumption concerns, these devices may not include built-in WiFi.
Do you have any suggestions or ideas for this product line?
We’d love to hear about your usage scenarios and any thoughts on how we can improve future versions to better meet your needs.
Your feedback will directly inform our product planning and development process. Thank you very much!
Hi Hoff, thank you very much for your message I'm really looking forward to the product, especially the 5G version! Please let me know if you need help testing it.
Now in regards to the suggestions or ideas for this product line:
-
It would be nice if it would have an integration with the screen of the Slate 7; i.e. to turn the 5G on/off and to see how much data has been used.
-
Since I use the 5G when I am out and about it would be very important for the housing to have various mounting options, such as an ability to mount it on a window or be able to screw it into a camera mount.
-
Ideally it would be possible to power it via my Slate 7 directly over usb, but I understand if this is difficult/impossible.
I will update this as I get more ideas.
Hello,
I'm currently using a SlateAX with an M.2 board in a 3D printed case.
It works fine but it's not always convenient using two cases with two power supplies.
I also miss e-sim support.
My use cases are varied, but I often need a router with 5G connection when I'm at a customer's location. I use an ethernet connection to interface with the customer's LAN (treated as a secondary WAN with static routes and masquerading) and the 5G connection on the LAN side of the Slate for my own devices. I also use the SD card slot to share files between my devices.
So, my ideal device would be a Spitz X3000, but in a smaller form factor...
Or at least a 5G modem in a case that would conveniently fit on top or below a Slate, using only a USB cable to power it.
