I have a TPLink AC1200/VR400 wireless ADSL router, which provides Wi-Fi & wired internet to my whole house. I have one area in the house (the garage/den) that can't be reached by Wi-Fi.
If I run a CAT6 cable to the garage, can I plug a GL-AR300M16-Ext into it and have the same Wi-Fi network running in there? I've tried the Repeater option, but can't get it to work, or do I need to choose a different option? Or do I need a different device?
Hi RWinstone!
The repeater option works only with a wireless connection to your tplink. To provide the garage with wife a possible solution is to use the ethernet option paired with the access point mode. You can set the access point wifi ssid and password as you wish, e.g. identical to those of the tplink router.
I hope this helps you further. If you find another solution, please share.
Follow up question - the AR300M seems to have a lot more configuration options than the TPLink. If I was to get another one, can I use that to replace my TPLink ADSL router? Most of my devices are wired, it's only really our phones/tablets and one laptop that are wireless.
