External USB WiFi driver(s) / Slate GL-AXT1800

Does anyone have any ideas on how to install the drivers for: 148f:5370 Ralink 802.11 n WLAN | RT5370 with a GL-AXT1800?

I know this configuration is not officially supported, using a second, external dongle adapter but I have a specific use case and I'm not looking for alternatives I just need another WWAN connection, not ethernet, not another theater, just a secondary WWAN connection. I am open to trying other dongles/chips. Again, this is a specific use case. I have a need to use Speedify (already installed and working great) with a small travel router so this limits me to the Slate.

I also have these on hand:

TL-WN725N | Realtek RTL8188EUS
BrosTrend 1200 | Realtek RTL8812BU
BrosTrend AX1800 | Realtek RTL88

I've read in various places that the Panda Wireless PAU0A AC60032BU works with some quarks, like having to keep the tx power low and only using 5ghz which in my case is fine.

Perhaps to required to compile the NIC driver into your router firmware.

The GLI NET images are missing most of the dependencies to build from source and are not easily installed. I'm going to try PAU0A but it seems as though there should be at least a few compatible USB wifi adapters available directly in the image(s) as it's not that uncommon to want more power adapters or external antennas.

Please let me know if what dependencies you require, we will try to update to the GL feed.
In the default GL firmware, the USB interface is used to connect the modem/removable disk/phone tether..
