Faulty Kill switch exposing real ip address on GL-AX1800 v4.6.4

Hello everyone! I've noticed on my GL-AX1800 after upgrading to the firmware v4.6.4 that, even if the kill switch is on, if I turn off the VPN (Wireguard or OpenVPN) the connection is not dropped, but it works with my real IP address leaked! I tried to apply the solution in the post below

But it didn't solved my problem.
What should I do? Thanks!

EDIT: Actually with the kill switch I can't surf the web, I can't access google.com using the direct IP but I can still ping direct IPs with the windows command prompt. Is it supposed to be normal?

The only problem I had was, that the Wireguard VPN I was using could no longer be changed when Killswitch was activated.

I did not check the behavior when the VPN was deactivated.
However, everything is currently working perfectly for me.

With the problem described in the thread “ Flint GL-AX1800 / v4.6.4. / Wireguard VPN-change with activated Kill Switch not possible Technical Support for Routers”
firstly
(1) I performed a backup of my settings and then
(2) downgraded to firmware version v4.6.2.
(3) deactivated Adguard Home
(4) Update to firmware version v4.6.4 with no takeover of any settings
(5) Restore my settings from the Backup-File.
(6) Delete the entry in the config file “procd_set_param group explict_vpn” and saved the file.

That's it. Maybe it will help you with your problem.
Regards
Chris

I've applied the solution by @AdamK and I solved the problem at the firewall level. Thanks!
