Hello! I've been using the GL.iNet Comet for work for a few days now and I'm pretty satisfied.
However, seeing as there's a desktop app for Windows and Mac OS. Is there any possibility of a Linux version of the desktop app? My personal computer runs Linux Mint and the web app works fine, but there's a couple quirks that bother me that I'm sure would work better on the desktop app.
If so, I'd like to suggest a Flatpak, as that would make it convenient for you to package for all mainstream distributions at once.
Currently the Linux app is not supported, you may try with tailscale connection or web management.
We shall try to make it in the future but it may still take some time.
I would also love to see Linux support. It seems especially relevant considering the use case. I did attempt to install the app with Wine and it appears to have failed for me. So I suppose I'll have to go with browser or tailscale support for now...
What's wrong with a browser? That's a reasonably good multi-platform/OS WebRTC client, isn't it? I keep a dedicated browser that only talks to LAN/VPN endpoints; no WAN allowed. You might want to consider the same.
Currently, I'm doing something similar. However, having a fully functioning desktop interface would probably be more accessible and secure than having to rely on configuring Tailscale through a browser.
Well, to be clear I don't even have a Comet nor am I deeply versed in the underlying PiKVM stack. I'm more of a CLI kinda guy. I'm sure interested in Comet Pro, though.
It'd be nice if we could just use straight RDP with a whatever client one prefers.
Update: It looks like PiKVM supports a VNC daemon. Some enterprising Comet holder would have to see about what it'd take to get it running on the Comet & report back.
