Feature Suggestion - Export / Import Settings

Because we are frequently told that's it's not a good idea to export / import settings via luci when upgrading major versions of the firmware I would like to recommend a few suggestions as to how we can at least export basics settings (which won't effect the underlying firmware settings)

In my scenario I have adguard home running with clients and rules, I also use parental controls, mapped ports, clients that are individually named and reserved IPs pretty much all “on top” settings so to speak.

I know which files these get written to on the router and via winscp I can / do manually upload them or merge the files afterwards to ensure other settings don't get effected which is time consuming but a safe option knowing I'm not overwriting other files by mistake. I know most general users won't know where to look or simply just backup and restore in Luci to save the hassle which then can introduce potential problems.

I am suggesting that each page has some form of export / import that only effects the suggested settings

For example, in the glinet GUI on the parental controls we can have export settings and then import, on the client's page the same (which also will backup the IP / names) adguard too

Basically anywhere we can export and import settings which would be cross firmware compatible.

An even better option would be a dedicated backup / restore page within the glinet GUI (under system) that has multiple options to checkmark each dedicated service (client list, reserved IPs, parental controls, etc) the restore feature could then read this file and ask which parts of the export we would like to restore or just restore the whole file.

just moving from one travel router to another, this would’ve been really handy for moving things like WiFi networks where there are a LOT, and they’re pretty standardised.

Hi

Thank you for your suggestion.
We will pass this on to the product team for further discussion.
