Firmware Update Not Working

Why is the "Online Upgrade" not an option? Also, I'm trying to update the firmware on my GL-AR300M via "local upgrade", by uploading the .tar file, but it's just stuck in "uploading".

I grabbed the "Common Upgrade" version 4.3.18 from GL.iNet download center.

Note, I have tried this via both the web interface as well as iPhone mobile. Neither worked.

Try with the uboot utillity: Debrick via Uboot - GL.iNet Router Docs 4

You're welcome  One last caution: bear in mind that in the GL-AR300M the 4.x (including 4.3.18) firmware has limited features because performance and limited storage issues: GL.iNet download center Other than that the firmware should install and work well on your device.

Makes sense. It's a cheapy thing, but serves my purpose while traveling.

I'm getting cold feet to attempt via Uboot vs. the "local upgrade". Something I read seems to suggest to not use Uboot unless already bricked.

To make sure I'm doing the "local upgrade" correct, I don't need to be connected to internet right? Just need to logged into admin via web-based or via iOS app and then upload the .tar file? I attempted both and waited a solid 5 mins, but it just hangs.

Same screenshot as earlier for the web-based, but additional screenshot for attempt via iOS app.

Thanks again for your assist!

Using Uboot is totally fine, even on not bricked devices. Give it a try, it's made for that.

As said, Uboot is totally safe for upgrading. In fact, Uboot is a safety measure for getting always an upgraded system and for repairing bricked devices.

DONE! Y'all are da best! Now my ultra fancy and powerful router is up to date . Thanks again!
