FLAT Network Run FLINT2 as Access Point

Hello Community,

I am wanting to setup my FLINT2 as an access point on a FLAT network.
I already have my Internet router, the FLINT2 is connected via a LAN port to the Internet router.
I wish (think) I need the FLINT2 to run as an Access Point, but it refuses to switch unless it has a WAN port.
To make matters a little more different, I am using the WAN & LAN 1 both as 2.5Gpbs LAN.
Given the Internet router will take care of the Gateway & routing, I believe I just need the FLINT2 to run as a basic Access point, allowing access onto the FLAT network.
Any ideas how to achieve this?

Connect the Flint2 WAN to your Internet routers LAN.

I have the internet rohtwr plugged into the WAN port, but for the network to remain flat, with only the ONE DHCP server on the network, I need the WAN configured as LAN.
As soon as the port is set to WAN, it goes the crap because routing between seperated subnets in EXPECTED.
Thats why I want it as a flat network.
Should work out oc the box, but tooo many unnecessary constraints being placed on config

In that case you might just use the Extender mode.

Or try Drop-in Gateway - GL.iNet Router Docs 4

Doesnt woek.
Changing to any of these modes DEMANDS you have to have an etbernet cable on the WAN Port...
Everything configured as LAN, doesnt work.
Thought these things were supposed to be the "bee knees" or network devices...
At the moment, looks more like a decorated dog's turd.
This is BASIC operation....but doesnt appear to be capable.

Drop in gateway is just an unneeded network overhead.....

Extender mode again is designed to extend the existing wifi.
I want ethernet connection...

Extender should work with Ethernet as well, if I am right. Try it.

No, extend mode wont set unless linked to another wifi signal....
There is no wifi to link to, hence the whole ethernet cable requirement

I requested in firmware beta 4.7 forum page for issues raised by our problems . fingers crossed they take heed .

The correct way of setting up as AP is:

  1. Connect Flint2's WAN to your ISP LAN
  2. Go to Flint2's web admin and go to network->network mode and choose AP mode.

That is all.
It is wrong to set WAN port as LAN.
This will still router mode and you can use Repeater/Tethering etc to access Internet.
It is not AP mode.

Disagree completely.
I can do this with ANY of the TP link, D-Link or Netgear products.
Guess I need ti return my flint2 & buy a real device....

Why is it so hard to just run this in a basic network config without all the bullshit with subnets??

Can you draw network map. How do you connected?

But I think I gave the easily way and you do not need to do any settings of the subnet.
