This seems to be the test data of AX 2x2. What model is your terminal device? Please check whether it only supports AX 1x1.
Despite my better judgment, I upgraded from 4.5.4 to 4.5.7 “stable”. I backed up my settings via LuCi and tried to load it and that brought my network down. I had to reset by holding the button on the back and re-configure things from scratch.
Wi-Fi is definitely faster but it came at the cost of higher latency. Also, I don’t know if it’s running in 1 GbE mode or 2.5 GbE.
4.5.7 has been pulled from the update site.
hopefully now that openwrt 23.05.3 stable has been released they will build a stable build out of that.
OpenWRT and MT79 being stable are 2 different things.
The number of vanilla OpenWRT users seems to be much lower compared to the stock gl-inet firmware and therefore the feedbacks to bugs could be lower.
The client (Google Pixel 7) supports 802.11ax with 2x2 MIMO at 40MHz
Just my luck. The day I finally update is the day they pull it. I’m gonna go back to 4.5.4.
Has anyone managed to get over 1gbps over 5ghz WiFi? Be it 160mhz bandwidth or not? Depending on the server, I’m getting 1.0x gbps at max. But I have a 2.5gbps isp and I’m using cat7 (I’ve reached 1.4gbps on 4.5.5).
Anyway, this version seems more stable for me (at least via WiFi), with no disconnects and crashes so far (running 3 days now)
Fingers crossed here! I also realized they have removed OpenWRT 23.05 pre-installed on their website
I have:
Though I haven’t installed iperf3 yet nor conducted decent tests…
I would be interested in having 2.5Gbe wan/lan again… should I go back to firmware 4.5.6?? Thank you….
In 4.5.6 , in VPN Policy Based On The Client Device:
- when you want to Traffic from Following Device (use /not use VPN), the list is not the same with that one seen on CLIENTS menu; you can not write down your IP or MAC, you are forced to chose from a drop-down list which do not contain the real list of devices!
- when you are already on VPN Policy Based On The Client Device and you are returning to it, nothing happens: you need to choose other option (let’s say GLOBAL PROXY) and then to return to VPN Policy Based On The Client Device to open the menu! Weird enough…
So, I want GLinet team to address and solve these bugs asap.
- Workaround: Manually edit /etc/config/vpnpolicy, add the MAC addresses you need.
Format:
config policy 'mac'
option default_policy '1'
list mac '11:11:11:11:11:11'
list mac '22:22:22:22:22:22'
- nope, just click here:
Simply check the link speed on your phone and tell us which speed is actually working at.
Flint 2 is set to 2.4GHz (40MHz).
The link speed on Google Pixel 7 at 50cm from the router is 206Mbps
I was testing the 5GHz 160Mhz performance with a server on the Flint 2, my laptop as a client and I wasn’t able to even get 300mbps next to the router, I was expecting around 1.4Gbps with iperf on the router itself, I tried different versions of iperf and different flags to use different protocols, nothing worked, then I tried OpenSpeedTest with the router connected through a short cable and I got 1Gbps on an iPhone 12 Pro.
Ok, second problem solved, thanks.
First one, still unsolved: I am not a technical person, I can’t see in the GUI where may I enter parameters you just specified…
You’re not supposed to know your way around SSH and vi but you sure know how to use Explorer and Notepad.
Use WinSCP to connect to your router (SCP, credentials: root | your-admin-password), then open said directory, select the file and press F4. Et voila, it opens in ‘Notepad’, you search for config policy 'mac'
and add your MACs. [CTRL]-[S], [ESC] and you’re done.
To finish click link from pic and press [Apply].
HTH!
Firmware 4.5.7 does not work with MU-MIMO
I have a fritz!repeater 1200 which is compatible with it, and if the router uses it it shows it in the information, while if connected with the MT6000 it doesn’t.
Furthermore, I only realized a little while ago that the 4.5.7 firmware has been withdrawn, I purchased this router a few days ago and it arrived today, with the 4.5.6 firmware I had slow wifi problems, with this there are other problems… .
If GL.inet developed a 4.5.8 again based on OpenWRT 23.05 like 4.5.6 but with the latest OpenWRT commit of the m76 wifi drivers where they fixed many problems it would be excellent.
The only one thing which is improvement for me over opensource drivers is the stable airplay performance of apple tv and homepods in same wifi network, not sure if someone use here atv with homepods and both connected to wifi, but you can find a lot of posts in google with that issue, with many top brands with same problem, but its resolved in mtk drivers.
I dislike outdated openwrt, but this mtk fix made my day and this is the only reason to use 4.5.7 in my user case.
The opensource drivers will of course continue to improve with help from GL, hopefully MediaTek, and the opensource community including other routers using the same chipset. OpenWRT is now on a stable release for the GL-MT6000 so hopefully GL will also release an updated build this week on the 4.5.6 line based on the opensource drivers.
